Genesis Chapter 1-4
In the beginning God said “Let us create man in our image, after our likeness.”
God formed man and breathed life into him. Man was put in the garden to work and keep it. The tree of life was in the garden and also the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God told Adam that he could eat from every tree of the garden except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The Lord told him that if he ate from this tree on that day he would die. The Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him. God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said ‘This at last is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’ Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.” The serpent asked Eve if God actually said that they couldn’t eat from the garden? Eve told him they could eat from all the trees in the garden except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The serpent went on to tell her that she wouldn’t die from eating from the tree of knowledge but your eyes would be opened so that she may be like God knowing good and evil. “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and it was delight to the eyes, and that it was desired to make one wise.” She ate from the forbidden tree and gave some to her husband. once they ate it, their eyes were opened and they knew they were naked. God came to the garden and they hid from Him. Adam said that he was afraid because he was naked. God asked, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” Adam told God, Eve gave it to him. God asked Eve, “what is this that you have done?” And She said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
Above we see how woman brought sin into the world, and also had her husband to disobey God. A serpent means a large snake or a sly or treacherous person, especially one who exploits a position of trust in order to betray it. Did you know that the devil was an angel? He sinned betraying God and was casted out. The devil is filled with violence and will try to get us to sin anyway he can wiggle his way into our lives. We have to fight the devil and stand strong for and with our Lord. In todays world not sinning or letting the devil in is one of the many roles we have. We are also to submit to God & our husband it says in Ephesians 5:22-24 just as the church did to Jesus.
If you look at 1 Timothy 2:9-11 you see a few more of our roles as women. It says “likewise also that a woman should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with that is proper for women who prefers godliness with good works. Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.” Modesty and self-control are beautiful and by doing this we are respecting God, our husband and ourself. Again in 1 Peter 3:1-6 it says to let our attractiveness be the hidden person of the heart of the everlasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in Gods sight is very precious.
We are not women of the world but women of God!
