Jesus had been invited to eat supper at the Pharisees and a woman in town who was a sinner, Mary, found out. She brought fragrant oil and began to wash his feet. The man that invited Jesus wondered if he knew what kind of woman she was. “Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, ‘Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.’ And he said to her, ‘Your sins are forgiven.’ And he said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you: go in peace.’”
Jesus went on traveling and preaching of the kingdom of God. “Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lords feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, ‘Lord do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.’ But the Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.’”
Mary and Martha brother became very sick. They sent word to Jesus. When he heard “This illness does not lead to death. It is the glory of God, so that the son of God may be glorified through it.” He told his disciples ”Lets go to Judea again.” The jews in that village tried to stone Jesus before he left. Jesus told the disciples that Lazarus had died and he was going to wake him.“ Jesus answered “are there not 12 hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of the world. But if anyone walks in the night he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”
Martha went to meet Jesus when she heard of his arrival. She said that if He had been there her brother wouldn’t be dead, but she knew if He asked God would provide. Jesus told her that he would raise and she believed he would in the resurrection. “Jesus said to her, I’ am the resurrection and the life, Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyones you lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?’ She said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the son of God, who is coming into the world.’” After this she went to her sister Mary and told her that the Teacher was there asking for her. Mary got up quickly and went to Him. Some of the jews had been there to comfort her and saw her get up quickly, so they followed her. Mary came to Jesus and said “Lord, if you had been here my brother wouldn’t have died.” He saw her at his feet crying and the Jews crying. He was deeply moved by this. They took Him where Lazarus was and He told them to open the tomb. Martha didn’t want to because she thought his body would have started to smell. “‘Jesus said to her didn’t I tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?’ So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said Father, ‘I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.’ When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus come out.’ The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bout with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unbind him and let him go.’” They had a dinner for Jesus after he woke Lazarus. The Jews were plotting to find Jesus that he shall be He must be lifted up.
After the Resurrection, Mary went to the tomb early and saw that it had been opened. She ran and told the disciples and they all came back. Mary cried outside the tomb while looking in. She saw two angels where Jesus had been. “They said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping?’ She said to them, ‘they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.’ Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?’ Supposing Him to be the Gardner, she said to Him, ‘Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Mary.’ She turned and said to Him, ‘Teacher!’ Jesus said to her, ‘Do not cling to me, for I am ascended to the Father.’” He told her to go and tell His disciples that she said seen the Lord along with what he had told her.
Mary came to Jesus as a sinner, He forgave her sins and drove demons out of her. She seat at his feet listening to the story of His Father and the kingdom in Heaven. When her brother died she was not as faithful as her sister Martha was. Martha believed that if Jesus asked God He would give that to him. Martha was alway worried about serving anyone in her home but she believed everything Jesus said without and proof. She heard all the stories of him curing everyone but she had not seen for herself. In todays world sometimes it can be very heard to believe in God if we have not seen Him or His works be done. We have all the proof we need in the Bible we just have to take the time and grow out faith. I challenge y’all to take 10 minutes a day and start reading it! I love studying it and learning knew things that I had no idea about. Reading just a little each day helps to grow your relationship with God.
