Tabitha

Acts 9:36-43

In the book of Acts we read about a disciple woman named Tabitha. She made clothes and was always doing charity work. One day she became very sick and she died. The other disciples heard that Peter was in a nearby town and they begged him to come quickly to the house. When Peter arrived he send everyone out of the room (v.39 & 40) “He knelt down, prayed and turning toward the body said “Tabitha, get up!” She opened her eyes, saw Peter and sat up.” Verse 42 says “This became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.”

What a testimony! Tabitha got to share for the rest of her life that she died and was raised from the dead! That is truely a miracle, but as born again believers in Christ Jesus havent we all been raised fron the dead right along with Tabitha and Jesus himself?

Jesus died on the cross to save us from sin and death so that we will live with him for eternity in Heaven. Romans 6: 4-9 tells us “Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life.  For if we have been joined with Him in the likeness of His death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of His resurrection. For we know that our old self  was crucified with Him in order that sin’s dominion over the body may be abolished, so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin, since a person who has died is freed from sin’s claims.  Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him, because we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will not die again. Death no longer rules over Him.”

I am sure that after being raised from the dead Tabitha danced for joy and told everyone she encountered about this incredible miracle she had experienced! I believe that this should be our reaction to the incredible miracle we have experienced as beleievers in Jesus. We should be telling everyone we encounter about the eternal life given to us through Jesus. I pray that each of us use the time to have on this earth to proclaim the name of Jesus and bring many to believe in Him!
