Today’s Chapter: Matthew 6
Key Verse: Matthew 6:8-13 (NIV)
8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[a]
but deliver us from the evil one.[b]’
The Bible teaches us the importance of prayer, Jesus even tells us how to pray word for word! 1 John 5:14 says ‘ This is the confidence we have in approaching God, that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us.” We are to approach our God with confidence when we pray, believing that He will provide what we need!
2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us “14if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. “
God says if we just humble ourselves and pray He, the God of the universe, will hear us! Sometimes I feel like a prayer weenie, I feel like my prayers are hitting the ceiling and bouncing back before they get to Heaven. But God always hears us, He knows our every need and He knows the desires of our hearts! We can be confident in this because the Bible tells us so! We can be prayer warriors! All we have to do is humble ourselves and pray!
My prayer today is this:
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”
