I 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Today’s lesson is a great reminder that God looks at our heart. Sometimes that can be scary! Can I get an Amen? He knows our weaknesses but he also knows our strengths! “God knows you better than anyone else and if He declares you delightful just the way you are, then your truly are!”

  1. Wow. I truly needed this today. I struggle so badly with my self image and how I see myself. I had an eating disorder for a long, long time. (Haven’t had it for about 4 and a half years thank goodness), but I was very insecure about my weight. And I’m starting to have those insecurities again. After having a baby and being put on Prednisone for months and months at a time, and also having a thyroid issue, I’ve gained about 25-30 pounds since college and it’s just hard to love the way I am right now but this certainly reminded me that we were FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made and I am so thankful for that reminder. Also, I’m thankful that God looks at our hearts, but sometimes our hearts aren’t always the prettiest. So thankful for God’s grace and forgiveness.
